Lula ....."a city on the move!"
Progress in town

Phase 2 of Street Scape scheduled to begin in January. This encompasses  adding new side walks and some new parking on Main Street north of Athens Street. Construction starts at Veteran's Park and goes north to City Hall. This is the third section of a projected seven part City improvement project. Phase 1 and 3 are complete.

Lula Bridge closed due to deteriorated structural wooden beams. The bridge was closed after a DOT inspection found support beams split. It is now the railroads responsibility to correct the issues. The last time problems were found it took the railroad fourteen months to correct the problem and only after being prompted by the Federal Government.

Athens Street Closed to Trucks. This road was not built to handle heavy trucks and was deteriorating under this heavy load. The City recognizes the importance this section of road is to our trucks and is working with the DOT to rebuild this road and reopen it to truck traffic in the future. Meeting with DOT held this January to discuss this project. Traffic count at this intersection is 4500 vehicles per day.

The new City public bathroom is schedule for completion by the end of January. These bathrooms are located next to Veteran's Park in the rear of the newly renovated Poole Building.

Looking for a new home to raise a family or build a business. Consider Lula. We have that small town atmosphere with big town activities. We are a town on the move and would love for you to come along!
